LTFRB: 4,433 TNVS slots up for grabs
MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) will open over 4,000 slots for the application of transport network vehicle service or TNVS next year.
The LTFRB said it would reopen the application for TNVS units beginning Jan. 9, 2023.
A total of 4,433 slots will be opened by the LTFRB in the next round of applications for TNVS units or those serving for transport network companies (TNC).
LTFRB technical division head Joel Bolano said applicants may first apply with their TNC of choice for the processing of application before it is forwarded to the board.
“We accredit first the TNC. Then the board will allow these TNCs to help the TNVS operators or drivers to process their applications,” he said in an interview on GMA News.
The LTFRB said it would continue accepting applications until all the slots have been filled, with individuals allowed to accredit up to three vehicles.
Earlier this month, the LTFRB said there were enough drivers even as ride-hailing firm Grab announced a shortage of drivers amid the holiday rush.
The transport agency said there are 7,000 drivers who have franchises and a few hundred more that are operating on provisional authority to serve commuters.
