P20.19 million smuggled carrots, onions seized in Subic

SUBIC BAY Freeport, Philippines — Smuggled carrots and onions worth P20.193 million were seized at the Port of Subic on Tuesday.

Bureau of Customs (BOC) personnel said one of the shipments, which was declared as assorted food, originated from China.

The other shipment, which was declared as frozen lobster balls and crabsticks, were found to contain red and white onions.

BOC district collector Maritess Martin issued alert orders against the shipment consigned to Veneta Consumer Goods Trading and Lalavy Aggregates Trading.

Warrants of seizure and detention were issued after examination and inventory.
