1 dead, 2 hurt in fight

MANILA, Philippines — An 18-year-old cashier was stabbed dead and two others were wounded after a fight broke out between two groups in Quezon City on Monday night that stemmed from the alleged bullying of a 14-year-old.

The incident occurred in front of a mall in Barangay Sto. Cristo at around 6:50 p.m., according to a report from the Quezon City Police District Station 15.

Police said a group of minors – a 14-year-old girl and three boys ages 15 to 17 – allegedly approached the three victims at the corner of Misamis Road and EDSA.

The girl allegedly sought the help of her companions to confront one of the victims, who had been bullying her in school. However, a commotion ensued between the two groups, station commander Lt. Col. Norman Florentino said in an interview aired over GMA News.

It remains unclear who started the fight wherein Samuel Aguila, 18, was repeatedly stabbed.

Aguila’s companions, Jayven Macatangay, 24, and a 16-year-old boy also suffered stab wounds.

A medical team from the mall administered first aid to the victims and brought them to the Quezon City General Hospital. Aguila died at around 7:47 p.m.

Police arrested the suspects at their respective residences in Barangay Tandang Sora during a follow-up operation.

An investigation is ongoing to determine who among them had been responsible for the stabbings.
