Raps filed vs Laguna fireworks factory owner over fire

LAGUNA, Philippines — Charges have been filed against the owner of an illegal fireworks factory that exploded and caused fire in a residential area in Calamba City, leaving five dead last week.

Laguna police director Col. Randy Glenn Silvio said charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide, multiple physical injuries and damage to property in relation to the Act Regulating the Sale, Manufacture, Distribution and Use of Firecrackers and other Pyrotechnic Devices were filed against Judd Nelson Corral.

The owners of the houses that caught fire filed the complaints against Corral.

The fatalities were trapped inside their houses when the fire broke out in Barangay Canlubang.
