Emmanuel Tupas - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Three suspected members of the “Akyat Bahay” gang were arrested after they allegedly ransacked the house of a businesswoman in Parañaque yesterday and stole P1.1 million in cash and jewelry.

Laz Vincente Santos, Tom Ryuji Gabriel and Bernard Valerio, all 21 years old, were caught in surveillance camera footage  leaving the house with their loot at around 2 a.m., Southern Police District (SPD) director Brig. Gen. Kirby John Kraft said.

Investigators said the businesswoman’s daughters heard noises coming from the gate of their house and that someone was trying to open their room.

The businesswoman and her husband, who were in Cavite during the robbery, said they discovered that their cash and jewelry collection in their cabinet were missing.

Kraft said the suspects only had P322,440 in cash when they were captured in a follow-up operation. The suspects are being held on charges of robbery.
