Ed Amoroso - The Philippine Star

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A suspected motorcycle thief was killed in an alleged shootout with law enforcers manning a checkpoint in Barangay Timalan Concepcion in Naic, Cavite at past midnight yesterday.

Lt. Col. Resty Soriano, Naic police chief, said the fatality who has yet to be identified, was  declared dead on arrival at the San Lorenzo Ruiz Hospital.

Police set up the checkpoint after a certain Robert Litada reported that his black motorcycle was stolen.

Authorities said the suspect was spotted driving the stolen motorcycle, but he evaded the checkpoint and instead opened fire, triggering a gunfight.
