Bong Go aids Paeng victims in Cavite
MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go checked the situation of those adversely affected by the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm Paeng in Cavite and personally provided aid to residents of Bacoor City and Kawit the other day.
Later that day, Go led a relief operation for more disaster victims in Taguig City, where he assisted fire victims.
Reaffirming his advocacy to help build a more disaster-resilient nation, Go is pushing the approval of two of his priority bills – Senate Bill 188, which will create the Department of Disaster Resilience and SB 193, which seeks to establish mandatory evacuation centers across the country.
“Hindi po ako titigil na isulong ito dahil ako ay naniniwala na walang katapusan itong disaster na dumarating sa buhay natin. Hindi lang baha, hindi lang bagyo. Pati na rin po lindol, pati na rin po pagputok ng bulkan at sunog at iba’t ibang disaster. Napapanahon na po na magkaroon tayo ng Department of Disaster Resilience, isang departamentong nakatutok talaga,” he said.
Go and his team distributed grocery packs, vitamins, face masks, meals, and shirts to a total of 1,049 typhoon victims at the Maliksi Elementary School in Bacoor City and Tangulan Arena in Kawit. They distributed cough and cold medicine to provide relief to children who got sick due to the inclement weather.
Go’s team also gave away cellular phones, shoes, umbrellas, bicycles and basketballs and volleyballs to select individuals.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development provided financial assistance to Paeng victims.
