SARIAYA, Quezon, Philippines — A woman drowned after saving her sister when they were carried away to a deep portion of the sea during a family outing on a beach in Sitio Aplaya, Barangay Bignay 1 in this town on Tuesday.
Patricia Macinas, 20, who was able to rescue her sister Stephanie, was declared dead on arrival at the Greg Hospital.
In Zambales, the body of Arland Bacolando, 34, who was reported missing when a barge of Industry Movers Corp. ran aground off Barangay Bangan in Botolan on Saturday, was found floating off the coast of Barangay San Agustin in Iba town on Tuesday.
The barge was loaded with gravel when the accident occurred.
Five other barge crewmembers have been rescued.
