SM Foundation holds medical services for elderly
MANILA, Philippines — The SM Foundation Inc. (SMFI) and its partners conducted medical missions to provide equitable healthcare to senior citizens as part of the celebration of Elderly Filipino Week from Oct. 1 to 7.
Realizing the value of health, the SMFI and SM Cares as well as other stakeholders and volunteers joined together to respond to the needs of the communities, especially the elderly.
Over 200 senior citizens were treated during the medical services in Barangay Holy Spirit, Quezon City and Mall of Asia Arena. They also received free maintenance medicines.
SMFI’s partner, Multicare Pharmaceutical, provided free bone scanning and bone supplements to the beneficiaries.
SM senior vice president and SM Cares director Bien Mateo said the company would continue to provide assistance to senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs).
Aside from ensuring that discounts and benefits are duly given to the elderly and PWDs, SM Supermalls regularly conduct wellness programs and seminars on disaster preparedness. Part-time job opportunities are also available for the elderly.
“At SM, everybody is welcome. Nobody gets left behind,” Mateo said.
The medical initiative of SMFI and SM Cares was in partnership with the National Commission of Senior Citizens, SM Supermalls and Multicare Pharmaceutical.
