54 cops get traffic tickets at Bagong Diwa
MANILA, Philippines — Fifty-four police officers were apprehended for traffic infractions at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City yesterday.
Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo, National Capital Region Police Office director, said the police officers were caught during the conduct of Oplan Sita at the camp.
The police officers were given citation tickets for violating provisions of Republic Act 4136 or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code.
Among these violations are driving without a license, using motorcycles without helmets, driving an unregistered vehicle, having no or expired decals, and failure to carry or show the official receipt and certificate of registration of their vehicles.
“The action taken led by the camp commander bespeaks that our personnel are not exempted from existing rules and regulations inside our regional headquarters and most especially from existing laws and ordinances,” Estomo said in a statement.
Apart from traffic violation receipts, the police officers also received a stern warning from their commanders, he added.
