Robertzon Ramirez - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Four Vietnamese fishermen were apprehended for illegal fishing in the waters off Pag-Asa Island in Kalayaan, Palawan on Sept. 18, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported yesterday.

The PCG told reporters in a Viber message that the still unidentified fishermen were apprehended in a joint operation with the Philippine Navy and Philippine National Police-Maritime Group.

The fishing vessel used by the four Vietnamese, locally known as sampan, was recovered.

The fishermen were charged for violation of Sections 91 and 92 of Republic Act 1056 or the Philippine Fisheries Code.

The PCG said the fishermen remained under the custody of the PCG District Palawan for investigation and proper disposition of their case as of Monday.
