Batangas kagawad, Abra teacher shot dead

MANILA, Philippines — A barangay councilman and a public school teacher were shot dead by motorcycle-riding men in Batangas and Abra, respectively, on Wednesday.

Ismael Rosales, 50, kagawad of Barangay Salao in Rosario town, was talking to his uncle in front of a store in Barangay Salao when he was shot, police said.

In Abra, Rudy Steward Sayen, 34, of the Suyo National High School in Pidigan, was on a motorcycle on his way to work when the assailants opened fire.

The victim was declared dead on arrival at the Abra Provincial Hospital.
