MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City government has revoked the business permit issued to the Colegio de San Lorenzo (CDSL) due to several violations of the building code, according to Mayor Joy Belmonte.

In an interview with OnePH on Thursday, Belmonte said the city building official found that the school had no existing building permit for its structures.

The three-decade-old school, she said, was built on top of a creek, contributing to flooding in surrounding areas.

“Having learned about this, the building official is in the process of filing a case against the original owner and their business permit has been considered revoked,” said the mayor.

Belmonte said they also discovered that the property was being sold by its owners.

“Why did they initially push for a new school year if they have already or almost sold the property?” she asked.

The CDSL is facing possible legal actions over the decision to end operations after initially collecting tuition and other fees for the next school year.
