New 6th ID commander named

COTABATO CITY, Philippines —The Army’s 6th Infantry Division (ID) has a new commander.

President Marcos named Maj. Gen. Roy Galido as 6th ID commander on July 22, documents released to the media on Tuesday showed.

Galido, a member of the Philippine Military Academy’s Class of 1990, will take over the post from his classmate Maj. Gen. Roberto Capulong.

Capulong was named 6th ID head after Maj. Gen. Juvymax Uy retired on May 21.

The 6th ID covers Maguindanao, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat and Sarangani as well as the cities of Cotabato, Tacurong, Koronadal and General Santos.
