Detainee escapes from police escorts

MANILA, Philippines — An inmate escaped from her police escorts while undergoing medical examination at a hospital in Quezon City on Wednesday night.

Lorena Dayao, 35, who was detained on drug charges at the Kamuning police station 10, was being examined for stomach pains at the East Avenue Medical Center when she escaped at around 11:30 p.m.

Probers said Dayao met with her partner, Reynaldo Cacho, who accompanied her to the toilet.

Dayao’s police escorts – S/Sgt. Ariel Traspe and Cpl. Kenneth Darel Asuncion – said they noticed that Dayao was missing after she did not return to the ob-gyne section.

Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect.
