2 Rizal traffic enforcers shot dead

MANILA, Philippines — Two traffic enforcers were killed while another was wounded when they were shot by unidentified motorcyle-riding men in Cardona, Rizal on Thursday.

Gil Tancingco and Marcial Julian suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene. Kevin Jerome Cruz is recuperating in an undisclosed hospital.

The victims were manning traffic along Manila East Road in Barangay Real at around 4:15 a.m. when they were shot by the suspects whom they flagged for illegal counterflow.

Witnesses said the back rider alighted from the motorcycle, shot the victims  and sped toward Binangonan town.

Police launched a manhunt for the assailants.
