2 cops nabbed for slay try on drug informants

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — Two police intelligence operatives have been arrested while a manhunt for two other law enforcers and a civilian asset is ongoing in connection with the slay attempt on two drug informants in General Mariano Alvarez, Cavite.

The identities of the policemen, all assigned to the police station in Biñan, Laguna, were withheld pending the result of an investigation.

Two civilian drug informants sought the help of Bantay-bayan of Barangay Calimag in General Mariano Alvarez, where the suspects allegedly brought them.

The victims said this was after the policemen got angry when the information they gave about a supposed drug pusher turned out negative.

One of the victims said he was handcuffed, blindfolded and beaten up. They said one of the policemen tried to shoot them, but missed.

The two managed to escape and hid in a residential area before they sought assistance.  –  Emmanuel Tupas
