Olivarez positive for COVID-19
MANILA, Philippines — Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez is in isolation after testing positive for COVID-19.
Olivarez, who is also the chairman of the Metro Manila Council, is asymptomatic, city administrator Fernando Soriano said yesterday.
People who had close contact with Olivarez were advised to isolate and observe themselves for possible COVID-19 symptoms
“The city epidemiology and surveillance unit is currently conducting contact tracing and is monitoring the mayor’s known close contacts,” Soriano said in a statement.
Olivarez is fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and has also received a booster shot.
There are 61 active COVID-19 cases in Parañaque, according to the city government’s latest report released on Tuesday.
The barangays with the most number of active cases are BF Homes with 14; Don Bosco, eight; and San Isidro, Merville and San Antonio, seven each.
