3 dead in Iloilo road mishap
ILOILO CITY, Philippines — Three members of a family died when their vehicle collided with a 10-wheeler truck in Barangay Dawis in New Lucena, Iloilo early yesterday.
Angelito Somblingo, 33; his son Lance, 11, and his nephew Angelo, 12, all residents of Barangay Barasan Este in Sta. Barbara town, were thrown out of their vehicle due to the impact of the crash, and died at the scene.
Cpl. Robertson Jamandron of the New Lucena traffic police said Somblingo’s mother Hilda, 48; his brother Mark, 20, and cousin Reymechian Gedoria, 10, were injured.
The victims were in a customized tricycle, locally known as angkar-angkar, on their way to Passi City when the accident occurred before 4 a.m.
Witnesses claimed the truck was speeding.
An investigation is ongoing.
