MANILA, Philippines — Lt. Gen. Manuel Abu is now the fourth highest ranking official in the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Abu, a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1989, was designated as chief of directorial staff of the PNP.
In an order dated May 14, PNP officer-in-charge Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. approved Abu’s promotion.
Danao is also the concurrent PNP deputy chief for operations.
As the No. 4 man in the police organization, Abu has supervision over the 11 PNP directorial staff in administering functional operations of all national support units and police regional offices.
Abu will retire from the police service on Aug. 22.
The PNP has yet to announce Abu’s replacement as director of the police command in Eastern Mindanao.
