Michael Punongbayan - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Naval Forces West (NFW) based in Puerto Princesa, Palawan has a new commandeer.

Capt. Alan Javier assumed the post on Monday following a change of command ceremony presided by Vice Admiral Adeluis Bordado.

Javier served as deputy commander of the Naval Forces Western Mindanao for almost two years.

“Captain Javier’s leadership skills, experience in his previous posts and his maturity as a Navy officer contribute to why he will sit as the 39th commander of the Naval Forces West today. I know that he has what it takes to lead this challenging area of responsibility,” Bordado said.

Commodore Donn Anthony Miraflor, who led the NFW for more than a year, was named deputy chief of staff for education, training and doctrine of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
