LRT-1 Central station offers COVID-19 jabs

MANILA, Philippines — Light Rail Manila Corp. (LRMC), the private operator of the LRT-1, has opened another vaccination site to boost the country’s inoculation drive.

LRMC yesterday opened the LRT-1 Central station as a vaccination site in partnership with the Manila city government.

The company plans to open additional vaccination sites in other stations of the rail line.

The LRT-1 Central station vaccination site, which is initially targeted to run for a week, is open until Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Available brands are AstraZeneca, Moderna and Sinovac vaccines.

LRMC said the vaccination site caters to people aged 18 and above who want to receive their first dose of COVID-19 vaccines.

According to LRMC, booster shots are available to all, including those who received their primary vaccines from other facilities or local government units.

Those who are planning to receive their first dose and booster jab at the LRT-1 Central station are required to register at www.manilacovidvaccine.ph.

LRMC said representatives from the Manila Health Office are on site to help individuals register before the vaccination.

“This initiative highlights the importance of having a strong relationship with our government partners. We are grateful to be partnering with the Manila city government. We share the same goal of protecting commuters and making COVID-19 vaccines more accessible to the public,” LRMC head of health, safety, environment and quality department Louernie De Sales said.

The LRT-1 Baclaran vaccination site will be open to the public on Feb. 23 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

LRMC has partnered with the Pasay City government in opening the LRT-1 Baclaran station as a vaccination site for second dose and booster shots.

It has served almost 400 people, according to LRMC.

LRMC said it expects to partner with other local government units for the rollout of other LRT-1 vaccination sites.
