Jeepney falls into river in Abra; 1 dead

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — A woman died and five other passengers of a jeepney were injured when the vehicle fell into a river in Sitio Mapait, Barangay Poblacion in Luba, Abra yesterday.

Dey-ann Biernes, 23, a resident of Barangay Supo in Tubo town, was declared dead on arrival at a rural health unit.

Police said the accident occurred when the jeepney driver lost control of the wheel when he tried to avoid a vehicle on the opposite lane.
