Mikey Arroyo, Baguio lawmaker catch COVID-19
MANILA, Philippines — Pampanga Rep. Juan Miguel “Mikey” Arroyo, son of former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, and Baguio Rep. Marquez Go have contracted COVID.
Arroyo said he was infected with the more contagious but less lethal Omicron variant.
“I’m asymptomatic for now and have got in touch with a doctor to take care of me. The advice is to isolate at home and take molnupiravir and vitamins,” Arroyo posted on social media yesterday.
Meanwhile, Go said that his wife Soledad also tested positive for the virus, although he did not mention if it was the Omicron variant.
He and his wife appealed to people who were exposed to them to isolate, monitor themselves and get tested once the symptoms manifest.
Go said contact tracing is ongoing.
Earlier, among House lawmakers who tested positive for COVID were Reps. Bienvenido Abante of Manila, Alfred Vargas of Quezon City and Stella Luz Quimbo of Marikina. They are undergoing quarantine.
Arroyo, chairman of the House committee on energy, said he is undergoing quarantine in his hometown in Pampanga.
