2 fake CIDG agents nabbed in Sultan Kudarat

PRESIDENT QUIRINO, Sultan Kudarat, Philippines — Two men who claimed to be agents of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) were arrested in this town on Thursday.

Allan Capate and Allan Poblete, who were caught in possession of guns and fake CIDG identification cards, were cornered along the highway.

Residents sought police assistance, saying the two were acting suspiciously.

Lt. Godofredo Tupaz, town police deputy chief, said Capate and Poblete face charges for illegal possession of firearms and violation of Article 177 of Republic Act 379, which penalizes misrepresentation and usurpation of authority of agents or employees of any agency of the government.
