Vintage bombs recovered at construction site
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — Eight vintage bombs were unearthed at a construction site in a residential area on Thursday in a village said to be part of the encampment of military forces during World War II in this city.
The discovery brings to 30 the number of bombs used for cannons of light tanks that were recovered at the construction site in Barangay Upper Cabatangan, Lt. Mary Agnes Miro, Zamboanga City police spokesperson, said.
Miro said workers had earlier discovered 22 rounds of the same unexploded ordnance at the site.
The workers coordinated with the police and Explosives Ordnance Disposal team for the recovery of the vintage bombs.
