MANILA, Philippines — A driver of a Nissan GT-R luxury sports car was injured after the vehicle rammed a lamp post in Quezon City yesterday.

The mishap occurred at the corner of East Avenue and Elliptical Road in Barangay Central at around 3:28 a.m., according to Lt. Col. MannySiniguian, who heads the Quezon City Police District’s traffic enforcement unit.

Probers said the driver, identified as businessman Justine Chan, 30, fell asleep and lost control of the steering wheel.

The sports car veered to the gutter and hit the lamppost, owned by the city government.

Siniguian said Chan was gone when police investigators arrived at the area.

An initial police report said relatives fetched Chan and brought him to an undisclosed hospital for medical treatment.

Chan and a representative from the city government entered into a settlement, police said.
