MANILA, Philippines — Entering politics for the first time, the eldest son of Parañaque Mayor Edwin Olivarez is running for councilor in the city’s 1st District in 2022.

Running under the administration’s PDP-Laban party, Paolo Olivarez is eyeing to replace Joan Densing, who is on her last term.

Paolo, a civil engineer, will file his certificate of candidacy today together with reelectionist Councilors Pablo Gabriel Jr., Allen Nava Tan, Marvin Santos, Daniel Eric Baes, Eleazar Diokno, Jomari Yllana and Valdolph Quizon.

They will be running under the ticket of Rep. Eric Olivarez, who is seeking to replace his elder brother Edwin as mayor.

Eric’s running mate is Guada Golez.

The 31-year-old bachelor graduated magna cum laude at the Western Michigan University in 2012 and was a US NCAA Division I champion in tennis.

Paolo is the chief operations officer of the Olivarez Homes and Olivarez Plaza in Laguna.

He recently distributed food packs and medicines to families affected by the pandemic.
