Baby contracts COVID-19
BANI, Pangasinan, Philippines — A three-month-old baby girl is among the new confirmed COVID cases in this town, which ranks second among areas in Pangasinan with a high number of infections.
As of Sunday, Bani had 138 confirmed COVID cases.
Meanwhile, the province recorded seven new COVID-related fatalities on Sunday, bringing the total number of deaths to 974.
On the same day, 410 patients recovered from the virus.
In a post on social media, Mayor Gwen Palafox-Yamamoto said the baby is a resident of Barangay San Jose.
Yamamoto said that aside from the baby, three girls aged six, eight and 10 years were among the latest confirmed cases.
One case each was recorded in the villages of Ambabaay and Luac, located in Zones 6 and 7, respectively.
Both zones were placed under lockdown from Oct. 2 to 9.
As this developed, the province of Negros Occidental and its capital city of Bacolod remain under Alert Level 4 due to increasing COVID cases.
The healthcare utilization rates of both local government units were at more than 70 percent, according to the Western Visayas health office.
Meanwhile, in Surigao del Norte, the Caraga Regional Hospital has reached its full bed capacity for COVID, and is running low in oxygen supply.
