Cop killed in Cavite drug sting

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines  – A policeman was killed while another was wounded in a shootout with drug suspects in Dasmariñas, Cavite on Tuesday night.

S/Sgt. Karl Marty Manzanilla of the Cavite provincial drug enforcement unit suffered gunshots to the head and chest and died on the way to the Dasmariñas City Medical Center.

Pat. Ariel Maribojo was wounded and brought to a hospital for treatment.

Jesabel Cadag, Jemuel Pillar, John Marco Pacia and John Lloyd Pacia were arrested.

The target of the police operation, Marlon Pacia, and two others suspects managed to escape.

Piquero said the suspects were on the drug watchlist of the Cavite police.

In Baguio City, Abraham Hamed of Niger in West Africa and his alleged Filipino cohorts Troy Mencio Jr. and Daniel Paul Castro were arrested in a drug bust in the parking lot of a restaurant on Tuesday.

Police said the suspects  sold 14 grams of dried marijuana to undercover agents.

As this developed, in Bataan, anti-drug operatives dismantled a drug den in Barangay Landing in Limay town.

Authorities said 60 grams of shabu valued at P420,000 were recovered from the operators of the drug den, identified as  Alberto Aguilar, Ernie Tanarte, Mark Anthony Cuevas, Frankie Olarte and Jocelyn Liwanag. – Neil Jayson Servallos, Ramon Efren Lazaro, Artemio Dumlao
