Arnell Ozaeta - The Philippine Star

BATANGAS, Philippines — A cargo ship from Iloilo bound for Manila ran aground in the waters of Lobo town in Batangas on Thursday.

MV Seaborne Cargo 5, which was loaded with 113 cows and 1,620 hogs, was deployed to assist MV Seaborne Cargo 6 when it experienced engine trouble around 200 meters off the coast in Barangay Masaguitsit.

A tugboat commissioned by the management of the ship pulled the vessel to shallow water.

Philippine Coast Guard divers said no oil spill was detected and no coral reef was damaged.
