Duterte appoints new PSG chief
MANILA, Philippines — President Duterte has appointed Randolph Cabangbang as the next commander of the Presidential Security Group (PSG).
Cabangbang will replace PSG commander Jesus Durante III, who will serve as commander of the 101st Infantry Brigade in Davao de Oro, PSG spokesperson Maj. Zeerah Blanche Lucrecia said on Thursday.
Cabangbang, 53, is a graduate of the Philippine Military Academy class of 1991.
Prior to joining the PSG, he was the chief of staff of the Army’s 2nd Infantry Division in Tanay, Rizal. He also served as chief of staff of the PSG from Sept. 9, 2019 to Aug. 17, 2020.
A native of Los Baños, Laguna, Cabangbang has a master’s degree in military and defense studies from the Australian National University.
