Militant killed in South Cotabato clash

SOUTH COTABATO, Philippines — A member of a militant group was killed in an alleged shootout with the military and police in Barangay Kablon in Tupi, South Cotabato on Wednesday.

Police identified the fatality as Jalman Orandatang of the Ansar Khilafa Philippines group of the Dawlah Islamiya.

Orandatang and his companion reportedly drew their guns as police approached them in Barangay Kablon after villagers reported that the two were seen near the headquarters of the Army’s 5th Special Forces Battalion.

Orandatang, a suspected bomb maker, was tagged in recent attacks in General Santos City.
