87% of Mandaluyong’s target population inoculated

Emmanuel Tupas - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Mandaluyong government has vaccinated nearly 87 percent of its target population to achieve herd immunity against COVID-19.

Data from the city government showed that 282,770 or around 86.97 percent of its target of 325,127 individuals have been inoculated.

Of the number, 206,726 have received their first dose while 76,044 are fully vaccinated.

Mayor Carmelita Abalos has embarked on a campaign to entice more of their constituents to avail of the vaccines acquired by the national government.

On Friday, she led the launch of their safety seal campaign where “Relax We’re Vaxed” stickers are posted on houses and establishments whose dwellers and employees are already vaccinated.

“As long as all members of the family eligible to be vaccinated have received at least their first dose, we’ll put the safety seal stickers in front of their house or store,” she said.

The city government is also conducting on-site vaccinations for the remaining 1,000 senior citizens who have not been vaccinated. There are at least 27,000 senior citizens in Mandaluyong.

“We hope that by doing on-site vaccinations like this we’ll be able to vaccinate 100 percent of senior citizens in the city,” Abalos said.

The city government also has a mobile vaccine clinic doing the rounds in the city on top of its vaccination sites.

There are at least 163 active COVID-19 cases in Mandaluyong. The barangays with the most number of cases are Poblacion with 25; Plainview, 22; Mauway, 17; Addition Hills, 16, and Highway Hills, 10.
