MANILA, Philippines — The Chinese General Hospital & Medical Center (CGHMC) rolled out its very own “employees’ pantry” recently.

A joint project of the CGH Employees Association-UFSW, the pantry distributed free food items to anyone in need within the CGHMC family, including all hospital employees, maintenance personnel, janitorial and security services and other contract workers.

Free food items such as rice, vegetables, eggs and other food staples were given away.

“This is for all the hospital workers who need some assistance in their daily needs, particularly in these trying times,” said CGHMC president Dr. James Dy. “We distribute what we can to everyone as our means of support and camaraderie. That was the goal from the start.”

To achieve this goal, the hospital employees’ association, in coordination with the Magsasaka Outlet, purchased produce at reasonable prices from farmers in Banaue, Ifugao through the BuyAnihan project.
