MANILA, Philippines — Five Metro Manila mayors whose cities are covered by the Archdiocese of Manila (RCAM) will attend the installation of Cardinal Jose Advincula as the 33rd archbishop of Manila on June 24.
Mayors Isko Moreno of Manila, Abby Binay of Makati, Menchie Abalos of Mandaluyong, Emi Calixto-Rubiano of Pasay and Francis Zamora of San Juan will be attending the ceremony, the RCAM’s Chancery Office said yesterday.
Moreno and Intramuros Administration chief Guiller Asido will formally welcome Advincula to Intramuros at the Postigo gate on June 24.
During the Spanish occupation, the gate was used exclusively by the archbishops of Manila and governor generals of the Philippines.
Advincula will deliver the homily as Archbishop of Manila for the first time during the 9 a.m. mass at the Manila Cathedral.
The rite will include the liturgical reception of the Cardinal, reading of the Apostolic Letter from Pope Francis, seating at the cathedral and renewal of the priestly promises of the clergy of Manila.
