New Bicol police chief assumes post

MANILA, Philippines — The new head of the Bicol police assumed his post yesterday.

Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo of the Anti-Kidnapping Group was appointed director of the Bicol police, replacing Brig. Gen. Bartolome Bustamante, who was named chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Directorate for Human Resources and Doctrine Development.

A graduate of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1992, Estomo led the AKG in resolving a number of kidnapping cases and the arrest of 146 suspects since last year.

He will have operational and supervisory control over the police in Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Sorsogon, Catanduanes and Masbate.

Estomo and Bustamante are among the 10 police officials who were given new posts in another round of reshuffle in the PNP.

Col. Rodolfo Castil Jr. will  join Estomo in Bicol.
