Kadamay member slain

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — A member of urban poor group Kadamay was shot dead in Silay, Negros Occidental on Thursday.

Jesus Pason Jr., 33, was driving a tricycle when he was shot by motorcycle-riding assailants in Barangay Mambulac. He was declared dead on arrival at the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital.

Human rights group Karapatan-Negros condemned the incident and called for an investigation by the Commission on Human Rights.

The group also called on the government to address recent killings on Negros island.
