MANILA, Philippines — Jogging and other physical exercises are prohibited at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) complex in Pasay City during the enhanced community quarantine or ECQ, police announced yesterday.

“I have ordered the city police chief to make sure that no one will will jog or roam around the CCP,” Southern Police District director Brig. Gen. Eliseo Cruz said.

Cruz said jogging is not allowed in the area because it is a non-essential activity.

Police will patrol the CCP complex to ensure that only authorized persons outside of residence will enter the area, he said.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority general manager Jojo Garcia said jogging is allowed by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases.

“But we encourage the public to do exercises only outside their homes,” Garcia said at a press briefing.

Meanwhile, the Taguig city government required residents to use their old quarantine passes during the ECQ period.

Workers can present their IDs indicating they reside in the city.

The local government will distribute food packs to affected families.
