Avsegroup chief gets COVID-19
MANILA, Philippines — The newly installed chief of the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (AVSEGROUP) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) has tested positive for COVID-19.
Brig. Gen. Florencio Ortilla remains confined at the Asian Hospital in Muntinlupa, according to airport insiders.
Ortilla is said to be recovering from the disease.
He inspected the NAIA terminals last week, days after he was designated as AVSEGROUP chief on Feb. 2.
Ortilla also attended a command conference at the Clark International Airport last week.
When he returned to Manila, Ortilla reportedly manifested symptoms of the virus.
The AVSEGROUP has conducted contact tracing and disinfected its offices to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
