Valenzuela extends hours on videoke ban

Ghio Ong - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Valenzuela City government extended by two hours the period in which the use of videoke machines and similar devices would be prohibited.

The city council said such machines would be banned from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. “to also consider college students who finish their online classes at night,” according to a statement on Friday.

A previous ordinance indicated that the original hours of the ban were from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sound devices would still be banned from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.

The city government also shortened the hours businesses are banned from selling alcoholic drinks and removed the maximum limit on the amount of alcohol a resident can buy to help businesses recover. The ban is now in effect from 12 a.m. to 4 a.m. while the previous rules set the ban from 10 p.m to 5 a.m.
