Suspect killed in Tawi-Tawi drug raid

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — A suspect was killed and guns and ammunition were recovered in an anti-drug operation in South Ubian, Tawi-Tawi yesterday.

Winnie Basanon, 40, and his cohorts fired at Marines and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency agents in Barangay Bintawlan, according to the Western Mindanao Command.

Westmincom spokesman Lt. Col. Alaric delos Santos said an M16 rifle, an M14, a caliber .45 pistol, assorted magazine and ammunition and 11 sachets of shabu were recovered at the scene.

A manhunt for the other suspects is underway.
