Municipal engineer nabbed for illegal logging

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — A civil engineer of the municipal government of Pamplona, Cagayan was arrested on Wednesday for alleged illegal logging.

Felicimo Bilas, a resident of Barangay Allasitan, was apprehended after he claimed that he was the owner of around 1,000 board feet of freshly cut tanguile found in the riverbank, but failed to present the required documents.

Cagayan Valley police director Brig. Gen. Crizaldo Nieves said personnel of the Pamplona police and 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company were conducting anti-crime operations when they discovered the pile of lumber.
