Cagayan town exec shot dead

TUGUEGARAO, Philippines — The municipal administrator in Lasam, Cagayan was shot dead by unidentified assailants yesterday morning.

Benjamin Augustos Agatep, 55, was biking in Barangay Callao Norte when he was killed.

Villagers found Agatep bloodied along the road at around 5 a.m. His body bore multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim is a cousin and close aide of Lasam Mayor Dexter Agatep.

Probers are eyeing politics as one of the motives for the killing.
