Cebu lawyer shot dead

CEBU CITY, Philippines — A lawyer was shot dead by unidentified assailants in this city yesterday.

The murder of lawyer Joey Luis Wee occurred six weeks after an ambush on his fellow lawyer James Joseph Gupana in nearby Lapu-Lapu City.

Gupana survived the attack.

Wee was declared dead on arrival at the hospital, according to the Integrated Bar of the Philippines – Cebu City Chapter (IBP-Cebu City)

The victim had just alighted from his vehicle and was walking toward his office in Barangay Kasambagan when two men shot him, police said.

The IBP-Cebu City condemned the incident. It urged concerned government agencies to solve the case and give justice to the victim and his family. – The Freeman
