MANILA, Philippines — The Pasig River Ferry service was suspended yesterday until further notice after the pontoons of five stations were damaged due to Typhoon Ulysses.

In an advisory, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said the pontoons at Guadalupe, Hulo, Valenzuela, Pinagbuhatan and San Joaquin stations were damaged.

A pontoon serves as a docking platform for the ferry boats, the MMDA said.

The agency suspended the ferry service to ensure the safety of passengers.

Last month, the ferry service resumed normal operations with limited passenger capacity and minimum health protocols amid the pandemic.

The ferry service resumed after the MMDA hauled water hyacinths that choked the Pasig River route.

The ferry service runs along the Pinagbuhatan-Guadalupe-Escolta route from Monday to Saturday.

The operational ferry stations are the Guadalupe, Hulo, Valenzuela, Sta. Ana, Lawton, Escolta, San Joaquin and Pinagbuhatan.
