Man hacks partner to death, kills self

KIDAPAWAN CITY, Philippines — A man hacked to death his partner before killing himself using a machete in M’lang, North Cotabato on Friday, police said.

Prior to the incident, police and village officials said Eddie Sumonsong, 38, and Emelyn Liwantang, 35, had a heated argument.

The neighbors of the couple in Barangay La Fortuna said Sumonsong was angered by rumors that Liwantang received a marriage proposal from another man.
