MANILA, Philippines — Celebrity fortune-teller Aurea Erfelo, popularly known as “Madam Auring,” has passed away at the age of 80.

Her grandson, Simon Pecson, posted on Facebook yesterday about her death and recalled his moments with his grandmother.

“Few days ago binisita kita magkausap lang tayo, dinalhan kita ng mga pasalubong at mga pangangailangan mo lubos ka nagalak (Few days ago, I visited you and we were just talking, I gave you gifts and the things that you need, which made you truly happy),” he said.

Pecson said his grandmother struggled through her senior years but still she worked hard for the family. He felt “sad and happy” at the same time.

“Sad kasi I will never see you again, mga wisdom words mo, korni jokes, happy bondings and pagkurot sa aking pisngi hanggang mamula (I feel sad because I will never see you again, your words of wisdom, corny jokes, happy bonding, and pinching my cheek until it turns red),” he said.

“Happy ako kasi (I am happy because) you have done everything you could to make us feel loved the way you know how, your struggles are over. You fought your battles silently,” Pecson added.

“Magkikita na kayo ni Mama sa kabilang buhay (You and mom will see each other in the afterlife).  You shall always be in our hearts. Love you,” Pecson said in his post.

Madam Auring was born in Sampaloc, Manila in 1940.

She became famous in the 1990s after predicting the victory of Amparo Muñoz in the Miss Universe beauty pageant in 1974 and boxer Muhammad Ali’s win at the 1975 “Thrilla in Manila” event.
