Member of teen crime gang caught

MANILA, Philippines — An alleged member of a gang of teenagers involved in carjacking, robbery and contract killing was arrested in Taguig City on Monday, almost two weeks after the group’s alleged leader was caught in Pangasinan.

Police officers served an arrest warrant on Errol Vicente, 19, at his home on Sagingan street in Barangay Upper Bicutan at around 2:30 p.m.

The arrest warrant was issued by Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 88 Judge Rosanna Fe Romero-Maglaya for robbery-murder and frustrated murder.

Vicente was identified as the Manila Police District (MPD)'s sixth most wanted fugitive and a member of the gang reportedly led by Joshua Bautista, 20, who was arrested in Pangasinan on Oct. 5 for allegedly breaking into cars in the province.

Bautista’s gang operates in Tondo, Manila; Caloocan and Quezon City. He is in the Philippine National Police’s order of battle.

Vicente reportedly told police that Bautista’s older brother Jace, 22, who is serving time for illegal drugs at the New Bilibid Prison, contacted them.

Vicente said the Bautistas suspected that Myrna Tandiama, the star witness in the killing of a bank vice president, her mother and their maid in 2012, was a police informant. Tandiama was killed on Feb. 25.
