Cayetano’s staff catches virus

MANILA, Philippines — The House of Representatives has logged its 80th case of coronavirus disease 2019 after a staffer of Speaker Alan Cayetano tested positive for COVID-19.

House secretary general Jose Luis Montales said the employee reported for work from Sept. 14 to 18.

“She underwent testing after exhibiting body weakness, headache, colds and loss of smell and taste. Contact tracing is ongoing,” Montales said.

He said out of 80 cases of COVID-19, only 14 remain active.

Ten House members have contracted the virus, the latest being Gabriela party-list Rep. Arlene Brosas.

Two of them succumbed to the disease: Senior Citizens party-list Rep. Francisco Datol and Sorsogon Rep. Ditas Ramos.
